That's My Point Kennels is located in rural North Dakota. Our kennel is found on acreage that is surrounded by thick shelter belts and rolling prairie grasses which house pheasants, grouse and other game birds. It is also located directly in the path of a major migratory bird flyway. The Goal of That's My Point is to produce Griffons that are truly versatile, companion birddogs that have a strong natural ability, good temperaments and are all around wonderful dogs for field and family
That's My Point Kennels is owned and operated by Thomas and Tracy Butcher a husband and wife team. We have enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors for a number of years. Wanting to add to that experience we began looking into gundogs as hunting companions to take advantage of the abundant birding available here in the Midwest. During that search we came across the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All the information found on Griffons told us this was exactly what we were looking for; a naturally skilled, hard working, gentle and intelligent hunting dog.
During our search to find a Griffon to add to our family we realized they were somewhat hard to find. After a bit of searching we eventually acquired our first Griffon, Little Lady Aspen aka Aspen, in 2006. After getting to know the breed some and falling in love with our first Griffon we decided to become breeders. Our desire is to help bring the same joy and companionship that we had found in a hunting partner to others. After coming to this conclusion we set out to find another Griffon and were pleased to add RazorsEdge Trinity's Tripp aka Tripp to our growing family in 2007.
All of our Griffons are born and raised in our home. We personally try to be at every birth and hold and handle each pup. Our Griffons are exposed to a large verity of situations that we believe create a well rounded dog. Once old enough the pups venture out on occasion with mom. Our Griffons see and interact with many animals from cats to horses, are handled by children, have been raised underfoot with all the hustle and bustle of busy home life and have heard everything from a crying baby to a running mower. We also try to expose our pups early on to gunshots, birds and water.
That's My Point fully encourages owners of all pups to try them in any area they desire. We feel our pups can be anything from a pampered pet, accomplished field hunter, agility champion or champion in the show ring. While all our Griffons are either registered with the AKA, CKC or both our kennel and our Griffons are also registered with NAVHDA. We do this because we feel that our focus is more in field trials and personal hunting enjoyment rather than in the ring.
